Hub Modification Roll Back
« on: February 19, 2010, 19:17:03 »
Based on something that has just happened -  I have thought of maybe having a rollback option to a previous state if changes have been made to the hub and causes a problem and you forgot what you have actually done. Maybe a config snapshot could happen each time the hub is altered and saved so in a case of a total how to say! *f*** up* and having saved current config you could roll back to the previous state like a restore.

Good idea. Only as a function/command available for hubowner. Maybe hub can remember about 10 last changes and we can roll back with some command like !turnback 8 and hub will cancel last 8 changes. It can be useful also for hubowners learning how to use a hubsoft or for hubowners who wants to cancel last actions of other operators. I think about everything that is related to hub settings of course.
Best regards,

Another suggestion would be the following:

The hub could have one "running setting" and one "Backup".. This way, when everything is working fine, you save your backup.. And then, when you (or someone else) fucks up, just load the backup, and you will be fine. Just an idea.

Good idea, the easiest way to do this is indeed being able to store a backup with one command, and restore it when needed with a second command.

Rolling back a certain amount of changes would be a more advanced feature, i think that one could be scripted externally if there's extra needed value in that. It should also have an option to review the last number of changes made before rolling back.
