Upcoming change of chatrooms

I thought I should let you in on a thing that we had in mind to do rather soon (probably not for next release but more like the one after that).

Today chatrooms work on profile level only, and since that is a rather clumsy method of configuring chatrooms and also not inline with how other things work in FlexHub we are in the process of rewriting this.

Instead it will work on the profiles just like (almost) everything else in FlexHub (saving of private chatrooms are also in the plan, I havent forgotten about them).

Now to the big question; are there anything else you girls & boys (& androids/aliens?) want out of chatrooms?

if someone has been added to a chatroom they they can invite/add people to the room as well so its not just the person who made the room

I guess your request is about private rooms, those are where you invite people. Would it work if you allow "!invite" command to be used by certain profiles? Then everyone who can PM inside the room should be able to invite another nick, but I haven't tried that yet.
Honestly I would not be happy with all the people inside of my chatroom deciding who can join in.

im just asking as i have a dev room in one of my hubs and we have from time to time  invite people into it but if im not their then they cant as i made the room no can

I think it would be good to allow invites/uninvites in normal chatrooms too, but only by the users who are member of the chatroom by profile, not by the invited users.

In the case of light-angel: the dev-room can then be a normal chatroom for certain profile(s), then every regular member can invite. Only the ones invited can't invite others, that we won't change, not for private rooms either.

ok if ya cant do the invite thing can u do it so rooms can have a diffent kind of right what ya can give people to get into the room because u said give people a a diffent profile to get into a room issue with that is some of them are ops and their are people who arnt ops what need to get into the same room to chat

as with aquila u can make a new right and give it to people so they can get into diffent rooms

With regular chatrooms it can be made possible to use invite, but i think it should not be possible for invited people to invite others into that chatroom just as a basic security measure. I understand that in your case you trust those people, but that won't always be the case for every possible chatroom.

We can consider making it a setting per chatroom, to set if invited users can invite others or not. Then you can enable it for your dev-room and keep it disabled for opchat for example.

adding an option to chatrooms to allow !invite sounds like a good idea.

We dont have !leave working for chatrooms today, only for private rooms. Will have to think about how that could work.
