Finally, here it is: FlexHub for Synology NAS systems. (http://www.flexhub.org/forum/index.php?action=downloads;sa=view;down=76)
This package is suitable for the following models (all containing an Intel x86 processor):
DS114+, DS214play, DS411+, DS411+ II, DS412+, DS710+, DS712+, DS713+, DS714, DS1010+, DS1511+, DS1512+, DS1513+, DS1812+, DS1813+, DS2411+, DS2413+, DS3611xs, DS3612xs, RS810+/RS810RP+, RS812+/RS812RP+, RS2211+/RS2211RP+, RS2212+/RS2212RP+, RS3411xs/RS3411RPxs, RS3412xs/RS3412RPxs.
We haven't been able to test them all ofcourse, so if you encounter any problems on any of the systems above, please let me know.
The package installation asks for a loginname and password, those will be set as hubowner account and with those details you can login using a DC client, ApexDC++ is recommended.
Installation will then ask to choose a port, choose a free port (for example 411) and make sure that port is properly forwarded to your NAS IP.

Thanks for the great work - so far it seems to run fine on DS412+ :)
Now I just need to do some more configuration before letting users in on my hub ;)
-
Thank you!!!
Also is there a client version available for on the NAS itself?
So we can use our NAS both as a hub and client?
-
If you install IPKG on the Synology you can get a command-line client called "Microdc2" I use that client on my Synology and it works fine although it is a little difficult to use and setup...
-
You could also take a look at Yorhel's NCDC: http://dev.yorhel.nl/ncdc
-
Thanks for the tip about NCDC - it works much better for me than microdc2
-
Thanks for the links :)
How can I install this on my NAS?
Is it done via the terminal?
-
NCDC and Microdc2 only works from the terminal.
I guess the most simple solution is to first install "screen" through IPKG (if you haven't installed IPKG yet just google how to do that on synology) - that way you can keep NCDC running in the background on your synology if you close the terminal window. Once screen is installed just remember to type "screen" before starting NCDC - if you close the terminal window you can reopen the screen-session in another terminal window by typing "screen -r"
NCDC is easy to install, just go to http://dev.yorhel.nl/ncdc/install and download the "statically linked binary" that matches the processor type of your synology (I use 32-bit version). Once downloaded you just need to extract the file and then execute the "ncdc" file that is included in the tar.gz file... no compiling is needed :)
But you might appreciate taking a look at the manual for NCDC which is on that website - there are many shortcuts to remember & figure out...

I dont know this extension file
Thanks
Nice week end

Do you have a Synology NAS?
Here's a video of how the FlexHub package is installed on such a device: https://vimeo.com/69721971

So I have installed this and been very excited to use this for ages, my one question is, how do I set up the server? So it knows what to share and what not to share?
-
You have to be more specific about your question. It is a client that is used for sharing.

Hi,
I cant install it on my Synology DS214Play.
I get the mess, This package not compatible with the platform. ???

I already had replied with the same answer to your earlier post here: http://www.flexhub.org/forum/index.php/topic,543.msg2341.html#msg2341
Please let me know if that new version can be installed.

Just to be clear, FluxHub is a server for other DC Clients to connect and download from right? IF it is, how do I tell it what I want it to share? I can connect to my FlexHub but it has nothing available and am not to sure how to config it.

Hi Sideh,
The hub doesn't share files itself. The clients (users) who connect to the hub can share files with the other clients who are connected to the hub. The hub is just in the middle to enable the clients to communicate with eachother.
So you determine what you want to share in your DC client (like ApexDC++, DC++ etc), not in FlexHub.
Hope that explains it a bit, more info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Direct_Connect_%28protocol%29

Yeah that did answer my question, Is this a feature that may come? When I go to LANs I want to be able to connect my Synology NAS to a DC++ server and share what is on it that way. From what I understood ages ago about this project I assumed it would do this, my fault and apologies for the confusion!

Sharing by the hub itself is not planned.
The principle of Direct Connect is that the hub connects all the users, and the users can then make direct connections to each other for file sharing. The hub doesn't share any files itself, the users share the files.
So you can take your NAS with FlexHub on it to a LAN party, and all the users on the LAN can then use their DC client to connect to the FlexHub on your NAS and share files with each other.
But.. ofcourse you can use your own DC client to share files that are located somewhere on the NAS. As soon as you connect to the hub those files can be shared with the other users connected to the hub then.
