Title: Hubowner doesnt overide ip ban
Post by: Bombardier on January 30, 2011, 17:45:49
Ok, maybe I havent set the hub up properly yet but while i was adding text commands i logged in as two other users using different clients and ended up with an ip ban. shouldn't it be a prerequisite that its impossible for the hub owners ip to be banned?

A local IP won't be banned, so you should always be able to reconnect locally using 10.*.*.* or 192.168.*.* or 127.0.0.1.

It's possible to protect a hubowner's IP better, will look into it.

that doesnt really help when your logging into a remote server, i can see the benefit of a local client connecting as a localhost but i would have thought that like other hubsofts it would be possible for profiles of a higher order to be able to bypass any type of ban. This just leaves it open for a disgruntled op to abuse his power in any event of a conflict with a hubowner and simply ban his ip. Yes? or No?
I did manage to create another owner account to log in from another ip to clear the ban but i still think its something worth considering.

A disgruntled op can ban the IP of any hubowner that is currently not logged in i think, in other hubsofts too, but to make sure the IP is safe from bans/kicks, you can use !protect <ip>
